Xiaomi 17 Ultra LOFIC Sensor ?
Xiaomi 17 Ultra : LOFIC (Lateral Overflow Integration Capacitor) technology works by adding a capacitor next to each pixel to collect “overflowing” charge. This allows a single exposure to capture rich detail from highlights to shadows, completely solving overexposure and motion artifacts.
It is currently being applied in three major fields:
📱 Smartphones : Apple is expected to adopt LOFIC starting with the iPhone 18 series (potentially 20 stops of dynamic range). Chinese models like the Honor Magic 6, Huawei Pura 80, and Xiaomi 17 Ultra have already implemented it.
🔒 Security & Surveillance : Sony has released the IMX908 sensor (4K, 96dB dynamic range) for surveillance. It captures all details in a single exposure under high-contrast lighting (e.g., backlit entrances), making it ideal for 24/7 monitoring.
🚗 Autonomous Driving : Automotive solutions can achieve over 140dB dynamic range. It physically solves perception challenges for vision-only systems, such as tunnel glare and LED traffic signal flicker.
